Giacomo arrived in Queens, New York, and after five years, he had the opportunity to start a restaurant in Charlotte, becoming part of Carlo’s Italian Restaurant. Over 22 years, Giacomo and his partners opened several restaurants, fueling his passion for cooking and management in the food industry.
Salvatore Illiano, from Torregaveta, Italy, joined Giacomo’s restaurant, bringing his expertise in pizza crust and pasta seasoning. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1987, he fulfilled his dream of restaurant ownership in the Concord-Kannapolis area, where he operated Romano’s Pizza for over a decade.
In 2012, Giacomo retired, entrusting the restaurant to Salvatore and his family, who have since maintained its authentic Italian flavors and welcoming atmosphere. Their success is built on three secret ingredients: a handful of love, a sprinkle of happiness, and a slice of gratefulness, which set them apart from others.
